Consisting of an overlay, top and lower circuit layers, and a circuit spacer, membrane switch panels are operation panels that feature buttons and prompts and a five-layer thick connection (or adhesive) layer. These panels are turned on via their membrane switch, sending a signal to the upper circuit layer telling it to adjust downward. While this is happening, the lower circuit layer establishes a connection with the contacts. Once the switch is released, the upper circuit returns to its original position and the signal is reversed when the circuit is disconnected.
